Land Operations
Brasília (DF) – Between August 28 and 30, the Land Operations Command organized a symposium in Brasília, as part of Operation Perseus, whose activities will take place in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. This symposium focused on the state effort and deterrent actions during an escalation of a crisis and a pre-conflict with hypothetical situations.
The event was attended by diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the Institutional Security Cabinet, the Ministry of Defense, the Navy, the Brazilian Air Force, as well as academics from institutions such as King’s College, the University of Brasilia and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, as well as the Brazilian Peace Operations Research Network (REBRAPAZ).
The Symposium began with a presentation of the strategic capabilities of each Single Force and the structure of the Ministry of Defense. The discussions then moved on to the context of a crisis between fictitious countries.
At the end of the event, ideas were raised that will not only contribute to the next phases of Operation Perseus, but could also result in changes to the Land Military Doctrine and provide input for the ongoing updating of the Defense Military Doctrine.
Operation Perseu is an important joint exercise carried out annually by the Brazilian Army, with the participation of the Area Military Commands. This year, the exercise will be conducted by the Southeast Military Command (CMSE).
