The Brazilian Army has acquired the modern Spike LR2 anti-tank missile system. In Santa Maria/RS, the Armored Personnel Carrier Training Center is hosting a Technical Training Course on the Operation and Maintenance of the Spike Missile, since four types of simulators were acquired along with the Spike weapon system. This training allows training in a virtual environment and in the field.
On Wednesday (04/09), a real shoot was held at the Barão de São Borja Training Camp, Saicã, in Rosário do Sul.
The missile’s versatility allows it to be used against a wide variety of targets, with reduced collateral effects. It can be used in day and night combat and in adverse weather situations.
The missile has a useful range of 5.5 km and the warhead (the part of the missile designed to destroy the target) is capable of destroying armored vehicles, fortifications and helicopters.
