Technology and Defense
Sant’Ana do Livramento (RS) – From August 27 to 29, the 7th Mechanized Cavalry Regiment, located in Sant’Ana do Livramento, hosted the first training session with troops operating the NAURU 1000C Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).
The experiment, which was coordinated by the Army Aviation Command through the 1st Army Aviation Battalion, included the participation of the 3rd Mechanized Cavalry Brigade Command and its directly subordinate military organizations.
During the doctrinal experimentation, which are tests to optimize the best method of using the RPAS, both by the troops in support and by those supported, the SARP NAURU 1000C carried out night and day flights, combined with the use of mechanized troops, generating a great deal of improvement and aiming to be used for the end activity.
The activity provided military organizations with the possibility of improving their troops’ defensive actions in relation to equipment of this capacity, as well as providing the NAURU 1000C development team with a vision of improving its technological operation, bringing suggestions for improving the project.
SARP NAURU 1000C
The NAURU is an innovative piece of equipment capable of complementing the helicopter’s use in intelligence, reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition operations. The SARP NAURU 1000C is the only one developed and manufactured in Brazil for this purpose.
With a maximum take-off weight of 180 kg and a maximum range of 60 km, it carries out various types of aerial monitoring, with an operating duration of up to 8 hours, both day and night, and can reach a speed of up to 110 km/h.
The SARP has a wingspan of almost 8 meters and a length of 3 meters. Due to its 8 independent battery-powered motors, it can perform automatic vertical take-offs and landings, which makes it viable for use in critical and confined environments.
The NAURU 1000C, with its high-resolution cameras, allows for a great advance in target acquisition, and is a technological innovation for the Brazilian Army.
