During the International COP, the first face-to-face meeting of the representatives of the Interfederative Network will be held, a space created to discuss the specific needs of the states and the Federal District in the context of the transfers made by the National Public Security Fund.

With the aim of integrating civil society with Brazil’s security, defence and justice forces, the Police Operations Congress – COP International kicks off on Wednesday at 9am with the opening address by Dr Mário Sarrubo, National Secretary for Public Security, and the presence of Guilherme Derrite – Secretary for Public Security for the State of São Paulo, Dr Camila Pintarelli – Director of Management for the National Public Security Fund.

A highlight of the event’s programme is the first face-to-face meeting of the members of the Interfederative Network, which aims to manage and structure public security in Brazil. ‘The National Public Security Fund is the main instrument for financing public security in the country, with a budget of more than R$3 billion for 2024, including its own funds and parliamentary amendments. It’s a pleasure to be able to bring all of our technical meetings to the COP, which will undoubtedly have a very positive impact on the integration of teams and federal entities and, more importantly, on the provision of public security services,’ said Camila Pintarelli, Director of the National Public Security Fund, who will also be speaking at the event.

The COP will also be a space to discuss the Transparent Security project, an unprecedented initiative by the National Public Security Fund which, for the first time, has provided full access, on the Ministry of Justice and Public Security’s portal, to all the data on the Fund’s resources, a project divided into five stages, the first of which was launched on 24 September.

In addition to the network meeting, delegations of public security professionals will be taking part in class meetings, including the National College of Public Security Secretaries – CONSESP, the National Council of General Commanders – CNCG, the National Council of Civil Police Chiefs – CONCPC and the National Council of Municipal Guards – CNGM, the latter of which will be discussing the change in the name of the Municipal Guard to ‘Municipal Police’ and its attributions.

The 2024 edition of the event, sponsored by leading companies in the security and defence sector such as Springfield, Condor and Axon, will be held from 16 to 18 October 2024 at the São Paulo Expo (Rodovia dos Imigrantes, 1.5 km – Vila Água Funda, São Paulo – SP).
