On Wednesday (15), the Naval High Administration, formed by the Brazilian Navy’s Fleet Admirals, met with the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the Minister of Defense, José Mucio Monteiro, at the Navy Commander’s Office, in Brasília. The reception was conducted by the Navy Commander, Fleet Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, at the Force’s main building, at the Esplanade of the Ministries, with military honors and a troop review. 


On the occasion, topics related to the areas of action of the Naval Power and the Strategic Programs of the Brazilian Navy were discussed, with emphasis on the Navy’s Nuclear Program and on the Submarine Program. During the meeting, the Commander of the Navy presented the phases of the development of the future Submarine with Nuclear Propulsion and the perspectives on the scope of the Strategic Partnership Brazil-France in the area of defense.


The schedule for the delivery of new means and the budgetary situation of the Force were also discussed.
