Between June 25 and 27, the Preparedness Command (COMPREP) held the 6th edition of the Preliminary Planning Conference (PPC) for the Southern Cross Exercise (CRUZEX 2024). Representatives from various military organizations of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) met in person and by videoconference to continue preparations for the multinational operational exercise, scheduled to take place in November this year at the Natal Air Base (BANT).
During the meeting, the participants revisited the actions underway and set new milestones for the next stage of planning, the Final Planning Conference (FPC), which will involve representatives of the partner nations taking part in the exercise.
“The FPC, which will be held in August, will include the results of the discussions that have taken place over these days, with representatives from the entire Air Force. We are moving towards the end of the cycle of all our planning and these final stages are essential for refining our actions,” said the Exercise Coordinator, Colonel Ricardo Bevilaqua Mendes.
CRUZEX, one of the largest Combined Operational Exercises in the world, aims to strengthen interoperability between the air forces of different countries, promoting joint training in complex and challenging scenarios.
The 6th PPC of CRUZEX was attended by the Preparedness Commander, Air Force Lieutenant General Pedro Luís Farcic, Air Force Brigadier General Ricardo Pucci Magalhães, from the Air Force General Staff (EMAER), and the BANT Commander, Air Force Brigadier General Ricardo Guerra Rezende.

The Cruzeiro do Sul Exercise (CRUZEX) is a multinational operational exercise promoted by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) since 2002, which aims to provide joint training in conflict scenarios, promoting exchanges of experience between the participating partner nations. This year, the exercise will be held at BANT, from November 3 to 15, and will bring together more than ten countries, including Brazil, and around 100 Brazilian and foreign military aircraft.
