The purpose of the meeting was to identify the location where the Joint Command will be set up and assess the need to adapt it for subsequent operations.
Operation Ágata Oeste, known for intensifying actions to suppress illicit activities in the border region, recently held an important preliminary phase at the Campo Grande Air Base (BACG). This preliminary phase, which took place between July 1 and 3, included the participation of the Public Security Secretariats of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) and Mato Grosso (MT), as well as the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (ABIN), the Judiciary and the Armed Forces.
The main objective is to identify the location of the Joint Command, which will be led by Air Major Brigadier Luiz Cláudio Macedo, Commander of the Fourth Regional Air Command (IV COMAR), and to assess the need to adapt it for subsequent operations. During the precursor, the General Officer sought to strengthen ties with the State and Federal Public Security links.
During the days of the operation, the mission guidelines were presented and meetings were held with representatives of the bodies involved. Major Brigadier Macedo chaired the meeting on July 1, discussing strategies and reinforcing inter-institutional collaboration. On July 2, the delegation visited the city of Cuiabá (MT) in order to get to know the state’s public security agencies, closely assessing the conditions and needs for the operation. They returned the following day.
