Brasília (DF), 16/8/2024 – This Friday (16), the Minister of Defense, José Mucio Monteiro, accompanied by the Commander of the Army, Army General Tomás Miguel Miné Ribeiro Paiva, paid a visit to the Army Aviation Command (Cavex), at Fort Ricardo Kirk, located in the interior of São Paulo. The aim was to get a closer look at the work of military personnel and aircraft from the Brazilian Army (EB) battalions in the region. The visit was also attended by the Army Aviation Commander, Brigadier General Fabio Serpa de Carvalho Lima, and other authorities.
On the occasion, there was a talk about the command’s main activities. Rotary-wing aircraft (helicopters) and the EB’s aeromobility system were presented. Currently, the Force has 94 aircraft of the Jaguar, Cougar, Black Hawk, Fennec, Avex and Pantera K2 models. They are distributed among the Army Aviation Battalions (Bavex) in four parts of Brazil.
The minister also visited the Army Aviation Training Center (Ciavex) and its Simulation Division; the Maintenance and Supplies Battalion and the 2nd Army Aviation Battalion. At the end of the meeting, José Mucio received the Army Aviation Merit Medal – awarded to those who stand out for their functional performance, in accordance with Decree No. 11.247/2022.
