MBDA has received a contract from Germany to manufacture and supply Brimstone 3 precision attack missiles for the Bundeswehr’s Eurofighter combat aircraft. A final assembly line and service center for Brimstone will be set up at MBDA’s Schrobenhausen facility for this purpose.
Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, said: “Germany’s acquisition of the Brimstone 3 is a decisive contribution to the harmonization of armaments in Europe and to the Bundeswehr’s ammunition stock. The new production line is the first of its kind outside the UK and demonstrates the value of MBDA’s cooperation model in ensuring the sovereign supply of critical European defense capabilities.“
The Brimstone 3 is a precision tactical strike missile characterized by very high levels of accuracy, combat-proven effectiveness and reliability. The Brimstone 3 allows forces to strike stationary and fast-moving targets with great precision in all climates. The Brimstone is also being integrated into unmanned aerial vehicles, such as the Eurodrone and MQ-9B, and is a suitable armament option for ground vehicles, helicopters and heavy remote transporters.
