The Campaign Hospitals (HCAMP) of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), set up more than 60 days ago in Canoas (RS), have performed more than 40,000 procedures in support of the population of Rio Grande do Sul. The Health Units play a crucial role in medical assistance, providing quality care and helping to support public health in the neighborhoods most affected by the floods.

In Operation Taquari 2, the procedures carried out included consultations, exams, vaccinations, dressings, among countless other activities, offered by the unprecedented installation of two Field Hospitals in the same location. This was a concrete response to the population of Rio Grande do Sul.

“It’s worth pointing out that these 40,000 visits cannot and should not be treated merely as statistics, because they represent the end product of a huge amount of coordination by the Air Force Health Directorate, something carried out by many people and by the volunteerism and commitment of many military personnel from the most diverse Air Force health organizations throughout the country,” said the Commander of the Field Hospital, Medical Major Waldyr Moysés de Oliveira Junior.

The specialties with the greatest demand have been dental and orthopedic procedures, in addition to medical clinics, followed by more than 2,000 emergency and social assistance visits.

Since July 10, the structures of the FAB’s Field Hospitals have been unified, and care is being provided in the structure set up at the entrance to the Canoas Air Base (BACO), daily, from 8am to 6pm.
