In an emotional ceremony full of tributes, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) celebrated, this Friday (03/24), the 82nd anniversary of the Aeronautics Specialists School (EEAR) and the Aeronautics Specialists (similar to Technical Sergeant in the USAF) Day. The military ceremony took place in Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, where the School is located.

The Commandant of the Air Force, Air Lieutenant Brigadier Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno, presided over the ceremony, and was welcomed by the Commander of the Air Specialist School, Air Brigadier Antonio Marcos Godoy Soares Mioni Rodrigues. The event was attended by civil and military authorities.

Lieutenant Brigadier Damasceno highlighted the importance of the military graduates from EEAR, who are part of the FAB’s ranks in the most diverse specialties. “They are military personnel who, just like those who have chosen the priesthood, dedicate their lives to ensure the good, peace, and security of the community and who, through their individual contributions, often anonymously, not only make flying possible, but also support the conquest of new horizons,” he said.

The Aeronautics Commander also emphasized the commitment and abnegation of the Specialists in various FAB missions. “These missions bring in their core the greatest reason of our Force, being evidenced in the actions ed to humanitarian aid, as it was, recently, in the transport of Brazilian teams to support the earthquake victims in Turkey, in providing aid to fight fires in Chile and in the continuity of the efforts directed to the Yanomami Land region”.

TRIBUTE

In the event, the Air Force Commander received homage, representing all those who were inspired by Specialists, like his father, in memorian, Severino Teixeira Damasceno, who was a Sub-officer Communications Specialist graduated in the 1950s.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Lieutenant Brigadier João Tadeu Fiorentini, was honored for currently being the former Specialist student to occupy the highest position in the career. Deeply moved, he told a little of his story.

“Having started at this School is a great pride, I feel a thrill every time I come here, because it changed my life. I always say that it separated the student Fiorentini from the hoe handle, to the Airplane Manche. So, I am very proud and have a great affection for the School”, stated the General Officer.

During the event, the Bartolomeu de Gusmão Medal was also awarded, which is a distinction granted to military personnel and civilians for outstanding services rendered to the Brazilian Air Force. Sergeant Carlos Alberto de Sousa Santos Junior, Communications Specialist, and Sergeant Tomás de Barros Caldas, Electronics Specialist, were awarded and spoke of their emotions at this moment.

“I am very grateful to receive the medal in front of my colleagues in the barracks, my family, my dear wife, and my children, who represent a lot. It is an immeasurable joy to be able to serve as an example,” said the Electronics Specialist.

“I feel very happy, because it is a feeling of duty fulfilled, even more so in this place, the Cradle of Specialists, where we have the reference when we talk about Aeronautics Specialists Graduates”, declared Sergeant Carlos.

Also in Guaratinguetá, the Captain of the Aeronautics Specialists Group Celso Molinari, the officer who has served the most time at the Cradle of Specialists, approximately 55 years, and the Guaratinguetá Aeronautics Garrison’s Master Graduate, the Sub-Officer Specialist in Aeronautical Information Franklin Raymundo, were also honored.
