EDGE Group and Brazilian Navy sign agreement to complete development of MANSUP anti-ship missileEDGE Group and Brazilian Navy sign agreement to complete development of MANSUP anti-ship missile

In partnership with the Abu Dhabi state-owned company, Brazil will carry out the project by the end of next year

The EDGE Group, one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defense groups, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Navy to complete the development of the National Anti-Ship Surface Missile (MANSUP) by the end of 2025.

According to the signed document, EDGE Group and SIATT, Brazil’s leading smart weapons specialist, will provide the necessary resources to ensure that MANSUP is delivered in time to be integrated into the Navy’s new Tamandaré Class Frigates. The agreement also provides the framework for EDGE Group to use MANSUP’s technology and technical data in the development of MANSUP-ER (extended range missile).

For Rodrigo Torres, EDGE Group’s Chief Financial Officer, this program not only strengthens the defense sectors of Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, but also, in collaboration with SIATT, promises benefits that go beyond missile development. “They will lead to the establishment of new factories and create countless job opportunities, promoting the growth of the entire industrial base and economy. We are excited about advancing our collaboration with the navies of Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, as we expand our family of missile systems and drive transformation in the defense sector,” he said.

The signing, which took place during an official visit by the Brazilian Navy to the EDGE Group, was attended by Fleet Admiral Edgar Luiz Siqueira Barbosa, Director General of Material for the Brazilian Navy; Rear Admiral Emerson Gaio Roberto, Commander of the Naval Air Force; Rear Admiral Carlos Henrique de Lima Zampieri, Director of Naval Weapons Systems; Rear Admiral Marcelo da Silva Gomes, Director of Program Management of the Navy and Director of Communications and Information Technology of the Navy; Rear Admiral Sergio Blanco Ozório, Director of Aeronautics of the Navy and Lieutenant Captain Cleiton Souza da Silva, Assistant to the Directorate of Material of the Navy.

The agreement is the latest development in an ongoing collaboration between EDGE Group, SIATT and the Brazilian Navy. Shortly after acquiring a 50% stake in SIATT, EDGE Group announced a major expansion of SIATT’s manufacturing base in São Paulo and two contracts to deliver the MANSUP and MANSUP-ER to the Brazilian Navy and the Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates.
