São Paulo (SP) – The Brazilian Army is undergoing constant transformation and evolution. New equipment, new procedures and new doctrines are being implemented to keep the Army up to date with the latest developments in Defense, based on the Army’s Strategic Plan 2024-2027, which aims to project the Land Force by 2040.

In the Southeast Military Command (CMSE), which has troops with special characteristics, these transformations will take place in various Military Organizations (OM), with the acquisition of new means of military use, construction of facilities and changes in the structures of some OM. All of this will go through the Army General Staff (EME), the body responsible for drawing up the Land Military Policy, strategic planning and issuing directives that guide the preparation and employment of the Land Force.

And as a way of identifying and planning the necessary actions, Army General Guido Amin Naves, Commander of the Southeast Military, accompanied by Army General Richard Fernandes Nunes, Head of the EME, visited several CMSE garrisons.

Caçapava

On the first day of the visit, the delegation visited the Aeromobile Infantry Brigade Command and the 6th Aeromobile Infantry Battalion in Caçapava. The Aeromobile Infantry Brigade is a large unit with independent operational capabilities, made up of combat, combat support and logistical support elements, which allow it to operate in any operational environment. The project involves the construction of a new headquarters for the Brigade Command, which needs more modern facilities that are better suited to new operational needs and challenges.

Taubaté

At the Army Aviation Command, the EME’s focus was on the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (SARP). A newcomer to Army aviation, the SARP has been tested and evaluated with a view to drawing up a specific doctrine defining the ways in which the equipment can be used and opportunities for improvement. Vehicles of this type have been used in modern combat around the world.

Osasco

In the Osasco garrison, the Duque de Caxias barracks (ADC) is a large area occupied by the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion (4º B I Mec) and the 5th Light Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battery (Bia AAAe L). In the modernization project to be implemented, this historic site will also receive the 1st Mechanized Anti-Aircraft Company, adding the capacity already provided for in current Land Force doctrine, and the ADC Administrative Base, which will concentrate all the logistical and administrative efforts of the units in that complex. The Anti-Tank Company has the capacity for strategic mobilization, with faster deployment, and will therefore be installed in São Paulo in support of the Army’s Strategic Employment Forces.

Jundiaí

At the end of the activity, the delegation visited the 12th Field Artillery Group to learn about the unit’s modernization project for anti-aircraft artillery. The necessary adjustments were presented, both structural and material, in terms of equipment, armaments and personnel. The project includes the acquisition of new missiles, in a gradual process of modernization and transformation, while maintaining the traditions of the Army unit in Jundiaí.

This entire modernization project aims to expand the capabilities available to the Southeast Military Command, with the possibility of operating anywhere in the country and abroad, at any time and under any conditions. This is the Brazilian Army always ready and prepared for the future.
