MARABÁ (PA) – The Brazilian Army verified the readiness of a troop formed by several units of the Northern Military Command (CMN) in preparation for the exercise CORE 23 (Combined Operation and Rotation Exercise), which will be carried out with the United States Army in the second semester of this year.

Composed as a Task Force, the troop is formed by 424 military personnel from units such as the 52nd Jungle Infantry Battalion, the 1st Jungle Campaign Artillery Group, the 23rd Jungle Cavalry Squadron, the 23rd Jungle Logistics Battalion, the 23rd Jungle Communications Company, and the 6th Jungle Combat Engineering Company. During the readiness check, the personnel and the various military materials were inspected, such as vehicles, weapons, and health support material. The activity was presided over by the Commander of the 23rd Jungle Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Maurício de Souza Bezerra.

Exercise CORE

CORE 23 is a combined exercise with the United States Army scheduled to take place in October and November 2023 and also in 2024, in the garrisons of Belém, Macapá, Oiapoque, and in the district of Clevelândia do Norte. The activity aims to maintain the historical ties between the countries and to increase integration and cooperation between the two armies.
