Brasília (DF) – Between December 3 and 5, the 8th BID Brazil Show – Defense Industrial Base – will take place at the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center in Brasília. At the event, the largest companies in the national defense industry will present their most innovative products when it comes to defense and security.

The event was opened by the Minister of Defense, José Múcio Monteiro Filho, who highlighted the importance of the Exhibition for the defense industry, the Armed and Security Forces and Brazilian society. “For the Defense and Security Industry, the exhibition provides greater visibility. For the Armed Forces, new technological knowledge is added, while strategic partnerships with companies in the sector are stimulated and resources are optimized by identifying innovative solutions. Finally, we also identify benefits for society, as we stimulate economic development, promote innovation and increase competitiveness,” he said.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Chief Minister of the Office of Institutional Security of the Presidency of the Republic, Marco Antônio Amaro dos Santos; the Commander of the Army, Army General Tomás Miguel Miné Ribeiro Paiva; the Commander of the Navy, Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen; the Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Secretariat of Defense Products, Major Brigadier Engineer Luciano Valentim; General Officers of the Brazilian and foreign Armed Forces, among other authorities.

After visiting the stands at the fair, the Army Commander spoke about the relevance of the event and the prospects for the defense and security sector. “There are very interesting expectations, because there is an increasingly significant demand in this sector worldwide. And Brazil has an interest in participating in this market, because we have Armed Forces with a great mission to defend and guarantee the sovereignty of our country. A continental country with 8 million km². The mere fact that we have this kind of mission is enough justification for us to have a compatible defense industrial base. So in an initiative like BID Brasil we can gauge the degree of importance of the issue and the degree of response that the defence industry is giving and how it is organizing itself for the future,” he explained.

At the Brazilian Army stand, visitors can learn about some of the Army’s Strategic Programs and also visit vehicles used by the Ground Force.

About the event

The BID Brazil Show is the main event for Brazil’s Defense and Security Industrial Base. Organized by ABIMDE (Brazilian Association of Defense and Security Materials Industries), with the support of ApexBrasil and the Ministry of Defense, it brings together the biggest players in the market and offers an agenda rich in business, networking and technological innovations.

In its last edition, the BID Brazil Exhibition attracted more than 4,500 participants and featured 88 exhibitors, as well as 38 institutional supporters, including the Federal Government and the Armed Forces. This year, the event will be held from December 3 to 5 in Brasília (DF), with an expanded structure and new opportunities for participants, further reinforcing its importance in the defense and security sector.

The estimated growth is 70% with the opening of another wing dedicated to exhibitors. To attract more visitors to the stands, ABIMDE will be launching a program of events within the BID Brazil Exhibition.
