On Monday, June 6th, the Military Command of the Amazon was called in to support the search for the FUNAI employee, indigenist Bruno Araújo Pereira, and the British journalist Dom Phillips, a contributor to The Guardian, who disappeared last Sunday in the Javari Valley, in the interior of Amazonas, near the border with Peru.

On the same day, the Army started efforts to find the missing in the region of Atalaia do Norte (AM). The 16th Jungle Infantry Brigade mobilized teams of experts in jungle operations, who are undertaking search operations by land and river.

The Army’s 4th Aviation Battalion also sent, on Tuesday afternoon, a Jaguar H225M helicopter from Manaus to Tabatinga, in support of the deployment of Federal Police agents. The aircraft adds mobility to the interagency teams in the area of operations.
