Brazilian Army supports actions to assist the population victimized by the heavy rains in the state of São Paulo

São Sebastião (SP) – The Commander of the Brazilian Army, meeting the request of the Ministry of Defense, after the request of the Ministry of Regional Development and the Government of the State of São Paulo, authorized the employment of troops of the Southeast Military Command (CMSE) in response actions to the damage caused by heavy rains in the region of São Sebastião-SP.

For this, the following CMSE resources in personnel and material were made available

  1. 06 (six) Army Aviation aircraft, being 03 (three) HM-1 Pantera, 02 (two) HM-4 Jaguar and 01 (one) HM-3 Cougar;
  2. 01 (one) SAR team (search and rescue);
  3. 13 (thirteen) specialized vehicles and heavy engineering equipment with 20 (twenty) technical personnel and operators, from the 2nd Combat Engineering Battalion of Pindamonhangaba, in order to contribute to road clearance; and
  4. 30 (thirty) vehicles with 380 (three hundred and eighty) military personnel from the 12th Light Infantry Brigade, Caçapava, to provide support in the region of São Sebastião-SP.

Thus, the Brazilian Army, in a permanent state of readiness and integrated with society, has been supporting the population of São Paulo and the other government agencies involved in the heavy rains that are devastating the state.
