The Hague (Netherlands) – The Institute for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (ICBRND) took part in the 29th Conference of States Parties (CSP-29) of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), held from November 25 to 29 in The Hague, Netherlands. This important event brought together delegations from various countries to promote international cooperation and ensure compliance with the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (CPCW).
During the conference, ICBRND military personnel met with representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the OPCW to discuss the twinning program with Morocco, scheduled to be implemented in the second half of 2025. In addition, the Institute followed a presentation by Algeria on the challenges and progress in a similar program carried out in partnership with Germany, which offered valuable insights for future collaboration.
The ICBRND was highlighted at the conference for its official delivery of analytical data to the OPCW, receiving praise for the accuracy and quality of the work presented. In a parallel event, 1st Lieutenant Maria Carolina, from the Chemical Analysis Laboratory (CAL/ICBRND) took part in an online presentation on the International Training Cycle on Assistance and Protection for Women First Responders, and was widely praised for her performance. In his speech, the Brazilian ambassador also highlighted the contribution of the Brazilian Army and the ICBRND to global security.
ICBRND’s participation in CSP-29 reaffirms Brazil’s commitment to international security and promotes the exchange of experiences between countries. With this, the Institute has consolidated its position as a strategic player in international technical cooperation, highlighting the fundamental role of the Brazilian Army in multilateral forums.
