Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – The 1st Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense Battalion (CBRNE) conducted a mid-level sectorial training course for officers and sergeants to standardize knowledge of defense against non-conventional weapons. These military personnel are members of CBRN platoons, which are the initial response force of the area military commands for cases involving chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear weapons.

Throughout the internship, theoretical and practical instruction was given on the prompt response against these types of attacks. The soldiers improved the techniques of use and maintenance of specialized equipment for chemical and radiological detection, and the techniques related to the operation of a Total Decontamination Station, used to attend a large number of victims in case of attack.

The training course ended with a major exercise in response to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear emergencies, carried out at the platoon level. All the training was successfully concluded by the team, which will now garrison the CBRNE prompt response structures in the various regions of Brazil.

The training was coordinated by the Land Operations Command and carried out with support from the Eastern Military Command.
