Brazilian and US military personnel met on June 28-30 to begin planning the multinational exercise MECODEX 2023, which is focused on humanitarian aid operations and is scheduled to take place in Ecuador in 2023.
The activity, called the Concept Development Conference, took place on the premises of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB). The event was attended by military personnel from the Land Operations Command (COTER) and the 15th Mechanized Infantry Brigade; representatives of the Brazilian Navy and the Brazilian Air Force; and liaison officers from the IADB, Brazil, the United States, and Ecuador.
The activity, marked by the participation and sharing of knowledge among those involved through face-to-face presentations and through videoconferencing, has the purpose of starting the planning work for the execution of Operation MECODEX, especially regarding the conception of the scenario, definition of means and simulation systems, and definition of the exercise’s command and control architecture.
