Between May 9 and 11, representatives of the Ministry of Defense (MD) participated in the DroneShow event, at the Frei Caneca Convention Center, in São Paulo. The initiative is an opportunity for participating companies to present solutions for mapping, inspections and spraying with drones, with application in several areas, such as Agriculture, Logistics, Defense, Security, Energy and others. Among the attractions, visitors were able to learn about the solutions provided by the Management and Operational Center of the Amazon Protection System (Censipam) to support the federal government’s actions to protect the Legal Amazon and the Blue Amazon, in addition to the portfolio’s work in recording and controlling aerial surveys using drones. The fair was attended by around 3,500 participants from 30 countries.
The DroneShow, which has been held in person since 2015, brings together manufacturers and importers of drones, embedded technology, robotics, autonomous systems, data processing platforms, as well as service providers, regulatory bodies, universities, startups, public and private users of these technologies. The General Intelligence Coordinator of Censipam, Raimundo Lopes Camargos Filho, spoke of the ministry’s presence at the event. “Censipam’s participation was important to disseminate the production of qualified information, which contributes to the protection and sustainable development in the Amazon,” he said.
Besides the booth set up by Censipam, on May 9, a representative of the Geoinformation, Meteorology and Aerial Surveying Section (SEGMA) of the Ministry of Defense presented the panel “Day-to-day of the Ministry of Defense in the registration and control of aerial surveys using drones”, at the 9th Drone Regulation Forum. In the opportunity, innovations focused on the registration of companies that use drones for precision mapping were shown. This is an essential area for the Armed Forces, since it allows the mapping of borders and other sensitive areas, which are used in environmental protection and to ensure the country’s sovereignty, for example.
Space – At the same venue of the Drone Show, two other events took place simultaneously: SpaceBR and MundoGeo Connect. FAB participated in SpaceBR Show 2023 with a 44 square meters booth, where it showed the Alcântara Launching Center, already consolidated as one of the main rocket launching sites. At the booth, four projects were highlighted: the VSB-30 rocket and the ITASAT-1, Sport and ITASAT-2 satellites.
