From June 13 to 15, the 28th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, through the Urban Operations Training Center, conducted instructions for the preparation of 173 military personnel from the 5th Light Infantry Battalion who will participate in exercise CORE 22 (Combined Operations and Rotation Exercises), together with troops from the United States Army.

The purpose of the activity was to contribute to the training and validation of doctrinal aspects of combat in urbanized areas, which will be applied during exercise CORE 22, which will take place in August of this year, at the U.S. Army’s Joint Preparedness and Training Center, in Fort PoIk, Louisiana. Combat training was carried out in confined spaces, underground combat, and ostensive patrol. At the end, an offensive and defensive exercise was carried out in an urban area, platoon and company value.

CORE is the result of a cooperation program signed between Brazil and the United States, which stipulates annual bilateral training until the year 2028. Through these activities, troops from both countries share combat experiences and exchange knowledge about doctrine, tactics, techniques, and operational procedures.

The Urban Operations Training Center was created in 2006 and, since then, has been working on the development of doctrines used in the employment of small fractions in operations to ensure law and order and in regular combat in urban areas.
