The 3rd Army Division (3ª DE) celebrates its 116th anniversary on August 6. The date will be commemorated during the month of August with military activities, religious ceremonies, a ceremony with honorees, as well as the traditional Riding Season.

On August 6, with the aim of improving the standards obtained in military training, the United Order Contest will be held. On August 7, Catholic, Evangelical and Spiritist religious ceremonies will be held. On August 8, the soldiers will put their shooting skills to the test with the Rifle Competition.

On August 9, there will be a military ceremony presided over by the commander of the 3rd Army Division, General Paulo Roberto Rodrigues Pimentel, at 10.30 am, in the Graduation Courtyard of the 6th Armoured Infantry Brigade’s headquarters, with a parade of more than 200 soldiers representing troops that total 15,000 men and women, who work in 342 of the 497 municipalities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, distributed among the 44 subordinate military organizations. On this occasion, the Friend of the Battleship Division Diploma will also be awarded, as a way of thanking civilians and military personnel who have rendered relevant services to the Army.

To round off the celebrations, the 3rd Army Division 2024 Equestrian Season will be held from August 16 to 18 at the Santa Maria Garrison Equestrian Center, located at the Santa Maria Training Camp (CISM) in the Boi Morto neighborhood. Established as a traditional and festive riding and equestrian event, it is part of the anniversary celebrations and is held in partnership with the Santa Maria City Hall.

The program of the equestrian event will include competitions in the stages of the Southern Military Command Equestrian Championship, in the discipline of show jumping; the Encouraçada Division Cup; the Garança Cup; the Interior Gaucha Cup; the Open Championship; and the Santa Maria Municipal Equestrian Championship. More than 250 combinations of horses and athletes will be competing. Temporada Hípica 2024 will feature attractions for the whole family, such as horseback riding, a food court, happy hour and exhibitors. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
